For me the themes of time and place are deeply intertwined. Being outdoors, walking and looking, is essential to my work.
I find materials in natural or urban places that I can bring back to the studio to combine with traditional painting materials such as oils, acrylics, graphite, paper. In making work I use plants, soil pigments, and vintage wallpapers, to create colors, shapes, textures, and patterns.
Time spent in the landscape, natural or urban, allows me to experience what is fleeting and what endures.
